Our
olives come to you from one of the best known olive groves of Greece,
the grove of Rovies, ancient Orovia, on the island of Euboia. Originally
a family estate whose origin as an olive grove dates from 1835,
it is today managed by a village cooperative.
Our speciality is the prized Greek eating olive, fleshy, savory
and gustable., marketed by us either as green, i.e. picked before
it ripens or as the ripe olive picked black from the tree.
The superior quality of the olive that we offer is the effect of
the sun, soil and climate of Greece and their exceptionally fortunate
interaction in this particular corner of the land in which our grove,
bounded on one side by mountains and on the other by the Euboian
Gulf, is located. It is also, however, the product of the skill,
knowledge, and diligence of the men and women who work on it.
Our olives are picked off the trees one by one, are handled with
the utmost care and are transferred directly from the parent tree
to great vats where they are cured in sea salt and spring water
according to the best known methods. The trees themselves are given
the care that the tree, sacred to Athena, deserves.
All in all, every effort is made to market a product to which the
label "home made" could all but be affixed and to offer
an eating olive which the connoisseur can truly say that it is second
to none.
